User guide Proteg v3.3


System Requirements

In order to use Proteg software, your computer must meet the following minimum system requirements.

Minimum System Requirements:

* PC running Windows XP or Windows 2000
* Minimum 10MB hard disk space
* 128 MB RAM
* USB storage device (any brand)

Downloading Proteg v3.3

Proteg v3.3 software can be downloaded from here. If you have any problems using Proteg, please first make sure that you are using the most recent version (v3.3) of the software.

To download Proteg to your computer, simply click the download link. Save the installation file to your computer. Be sure to remember where you saved the file (the desktop might be a good place).

Installation

Use the following instructions to install Proteg v3.3 software on your computer. Please make sure you are log on to your computer either using administrator account or your account has administrator right to install software.

Step 1 :
Once the file has downloaded completely, please open the folder containing the file you downloaded.

Step 2 :
Double-click the installation file you just downloaded to start installing Proteg v3.3 on your computer.

Step 3 :
Once the installation begins, you will be asked to read and accept our End User License Agreement prior to installing Proteg. Click “Yes” only after you have read and understood these terms and then follow the installation instructions on screen in order to choose a suitable location and other available options to install Proteg. Most users will probably want to accept the default location and options.

Note : The setup program will create an emergency account in your computer. You may use this account in case you are unable to log on to your proteg enabled user account due to failure of USB storage device.

Step 4 :
You will be asked four questions and you are expected to answer all of them. Your answers will be used to generate the password for the emergency account. You are strongly advised to remember the answer as you will be asked the same questions to retrieve the password of the emergency account.

Please make sure you provide a valid email address as one of the answers because your emergency password will be sent to that email account.

Step 5 :
You have a choice to immediately setup a Proteg enabled account immediately after the installation. Follow instructions at Enable Proteg On Specific User or Create A New Proteg Enabled User Account.

Step 6 :
Your computer must be reboot to initiate Proteg log on sequence on your computer.

Enable Proteg On Specific User Account

Use the following instructions to convert an existing user account log on from using username and password to using USB storage device and password. You must log on to the computer using a user account with administrator privilege to perform the following instructions.

Make sure a USB storage device is connected to your computer. Note that you cannot use the same USB storage device for more than one user account.

Step 1 :
Select 'Enable Proteg on specific user account' at Proteg Manager main screen.

Step 2 :
Select a user from the list. The default list only contains user from Administrator, Power User and User group. Click 'List all user' button include user from other group in the list.

Step 3 :
Type in your password to be used for log on to the computer in conjuction with the USB storage device.

Step 4 :
Reboot your computer for the new setting to take effect.

Create A New Proteg Enabled User Account

Use the following instructions to create to create a new account to log on to your computer using USB storage device. You must log on to the computer using a user account with administrator privilege to perform the following instructions.

Make sure a USB storage device is connected to your computer. Note that you cannot use the same USB storage device for more than one user account.

Step 1 :
Select 'Create a new Proteg enabled user account' at Proteg Manager main screen.

Step 2 :
Type in a new username and select a user group from the list of available user group for your computer.

Step 3 :
Type in your password to be used for log on to the computer in conjuction with the USB storage device.

Step 4 :
Reboot your computer for the new setting to take effect.

Disable Proteg From Specific User Account

Use the following instructions to revert an user account log on from using USB storage device and password to username and password. You must log on to the computer using a user account with administrator privilege to perform the following instructions.

Step 1 :
Select 'Disable Proteg from specific user account' at Proteg Manager main screen.

Step 2 :
Select a user from the list.

Step 3 :
Type in the password to be use for log on.to the computer without using USB storage device.

Step 4 :
Reboot the computer for the new setting to take effect.

Manage Proteg Password

Use the following instructions to change the password of a user account. You must log on to the computer using a user account with administrator privilege to perform the following instructions.

Step 1 :
Select 'Manage Proteg password' at Proteg Manager main screen.

Step 2 :
Select a user from the list. Make sure a USB storage device assigned for the user is connected to your computer.

Step 3 :
Type in the new password for the user.

Step 4 :
Log off or reboot the computer for the new setting to take effect.

Purchase Proteg v3.3

Use the following instructions to purchase a valid license for using Proteg v3.3 software. You must log on to the computer using a user account with administrator privilege to perform the following instructions.

Step 1 :
Select 'Purchase Proteg' at Proteg Manger main screen.

Step 2 :
Take note of the License Requisition Code. Make sure you are connected to internet. Click 'I wish to purchase proteg now' button. Your default browser will be launched to access the purchase site.

Step 3 :
Confirm that the License Requisition Code submitted to the web site is correct. Click on 'Buy Now'.

Step 4 :
Fill in your credit card number, email address and other relevant information. License Key will be sent to your email account provided to us.upon confirmation of your credit card payment.

Step 5 :
Follow the step to enter the License Key at Proteg Manager main screen.

Enter License Key

Use the following instructions to enter the license key to Proteg software. You must log on to the computer using a user account with administrator privilege to perform the following instructions.

Step 1 :
Select 'Enter License Key' at Proteg Manager main screen.

Step 2 :
Enter the license key received at your email account.
